Dance is the fastest growing art form in the UK – don’t get left behind! Students will gain experience of performance and choreography, will critically evaluate professional dance works and study the dancer in action.
Year 1 and 2 Topics studied
Year 1: Solo choreography & performance, performing in a duo / trio, training & technique, analysis of professional repertoire.
Year 2: Group choreography, solo performance in the style of a chosen professional, training and technique, analysis of a set work and the history of dance development.
AS: 60% practical / 40% theory
A2: 50% practical / 50% theory
A passion for dance, dedication to technique improvement and a willingness to embrace opportunity. If studied at GCSE a grade C is beneficial.
A high level of attendance and participation in practical and theory lessons, commitment to workshops, rehearsals and theatre visits to improve technique, performance and understanding. Completion of all homework tasks and meeting all set deadlines for practical and theory.
Outside of the Classroom
Workshops, after school classes and rehearsals will take place to improve technique and performance.
