With World Book Day on 6th March, Newquay Tretherras decided to celebrate with a whole week of all things literature.
English students developed their creative skills with story writing exercises whilst science students were asked to answer quiz questions on climate change using only the books found in the library.
The main event of the week though saw renowned author Andy Mulligan holding Q&A sessions with the students and speaking about his Carnegie Medal nominated children’s novel ‘Trash’ which is currently being adapted into a film.
Tracey Clatworthy, Librarian at Tretherras explained, “This week has been all about trying to promote reading and make children realise that literature can be enjoyable. It’s so easy for kids to jump on a computer these days so we used this week to try to make them understand the value of books as well.”
