Centre Stage Raises £900

Centre Stage, the star-studded showcase organised Newquay Tretherras Sixth Form student Tia Wright, raised just over £900 on 30th of November.

The evening opened to a packed house of family, friends and Newquay Tretherras staff, who were all there supporting Tia’s ambition of taking part in a once in a lifetime opportunity to do independent volunteering work in Ecuador.

The audience were entertained by a range of stage talents that included singing, dancing, theatrical performances and acrobatics from Andy Marshall, Rachel Millington, Tess Whitrow-Coates, 4 Funx Sake, Bounce Dance Academy, Cornwall Theatre School, Pamela Darlington School of Dance, Kernow Gymnastics and Acro Academy.

Local business, Newquay Golf Club, Newquay Zoo, Dive Newquay, The Fort Inn, Yoshimi Salon & Spa, Blush Hair & Beauty, Frankie & Benny’s, Boots, McDonald’s, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Tesco also supported the event by donating prizes for the grand raffle.

Tia Wright commented, ‘I’d really like to thank everyone who has supported the event and worked behind the scenes to make tonight happen. I’d also like to thank my parents for helping me organise tonight. With all your kind help I hope to travel to take part in Camps International and make a difference to challenged communities in South America.’

Tia will travel to Equador in 2017 where she will live and work on community-based projects such as building schools and marine conservation.
