On the 30th of October Newquay Tretherras Drama students performed a series of truly frightening horror stories at Newquay Zoo, for the Halloween event, Fright Night.
Audience members were toured around the nighttime
Zoo by ghoulish guides, where they experienced four different theatre performances along the way.
Performed by a talented cast from mixed year groups, the four performances were a mixture of devised and scripted pieces, devised by students during their after school drama club.
Newquay Tretherras Teacher of Drama, Mrs Kym Langdon. Langdon commented, ‘This was such a great opportunity for our students. Performing at the Zoo was such an exciting experience and we really hope everyone enjoyed watching the work that had been produced.’
With 215 visitors in attendance on the evening, ranging from ages 3 to 63 the atmosphere was frightful, yet fun with audience members being spooked by an extensive cast of witches, dames and possessed dolls whilst travelling around the grounds.
Organisers at the Zoo were very impressed with how the exclusive event turned out. Event Coordinator Zoe Pascoe-Burd commented: ‘This event was a new challenge for the Zoo and I’m really pleased and excited at the response that we’ve had and look forward to developing this event for years to come- who knows what we’ll do next year!’
The Zoo would like to congratulate and thank all the students and staff from Newquay Tretherras Academy who took part in the project, as well as all those who attended.
