Primary Cross County Presentation

Celebrating the 2014 Newquay Primary Cross Country Festival, local Primary schools attended a presentation evening on Thursday 27th March at Newquay Tretherras.

Teams and individuals from each school collected trophies and certificates as the final results were announced. 12 primary schools took part in the four meets held over the season, that saw over 300 pupils take part. Year 5 athletes ran over a course of about 800m whilst Year 6 Boys and Girls ran around 1000m.

Along with the Tretherras Sports Leaders, Charlotte Cayton Smith and George Pendreich, ran the evenings proceedings. Paul Wright of Newquay Road Runners, and Emma Morley, representative of the Cornwall School Games, presented the Year 5 & 6 primary pupils with their awards and certificate.

This year the Year 5 Girls winners were, 1st place OLIVE VARLET from Newquay Junior, in 2nd place LANI GROVES from Perranporth, 3rd place BETHANY WARD from Newquay Junior. Team scores results were, 1st Newquay Junior A, 2nd Newquay Junior B, 3rd Goonhavern, 4th Mawgan-In Pydar and 5th Newquay Junior C.

The Year 5 Boys results were, 1st place JACOB LAMBOLL from St. Columb Minor, 2nd place EUAN BOTHAM from Mawgan-In-Pydar, 3rd place ALEX ROBINSON from Goonhavern. Team scores results were, 1st Newquay Junior A, 2nd Goonhavern, 3rd Mawgan-In-Pydar, 4th St. Columb Minor and 5th Cubert.

This year the Year 6 Girls winners were, 1st place THALIA SIDDIQUI from Goonhavern, in 2nd place NISA BOWDEN INOUE from Mawgan-In-Pydar, 3rd place ROWAN MCCOWEN BROWN from Mawgan-In-Pydar. Team scores results were, 1st Mawgan-In-Pydar, 2nd Newquay Junior, 3rd Goonhavern, 4th Perranporth and 5th St. Columb Minor.

The Year 6 Boys results were, 1st place BRADLEY MCLELLAN from Goonhavern, 2nd place CALEB ROWE from Newquay Junior, 3rd place AARON MARTYN from Goonhavern. Team scores results were, 1stNewquay Junior A, 2nd Goonhavern, 3rd Perranporth, 4th Newquay junior b and 5th Mawgan-In-Pydar.
