Within PE lessons at Newquay Tretherras students are given the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities. These activities can be grouped into the following areas; invasion games, striking and fielding, net and wall, gymnastics, dance, sports leadership, outdoor and adventurous and athletic. Students are assessed in their PE ability early in year seven and set into appropriate groups. These groups not only allow students to be taught with others of a similar ability but it also allows the activities to be specifically tailored for particular groups. Students are taught in half term activity blocks and have a games lesson and a PE lesson per week. Although lessons are taught in single-gender groups students have access to all activities. All lessons are taught by specialist PE teachers.
