At the Regional Final for the ESAA Cross Country Cup, Newquay Tretherras were jubilant when it was announced that their Junior Boys team had qualified for the National Final, to be hosted by their home school on 29th November.
Though the two Tretherras girls teams narrowly missed out on the final, the students did fantastically well individually, with Rowan McGovern-Brown and Nisa Bowden-Inoue placing 13th and 15th respectively in the Junior Girls category, and Elowen Penfold finishing 12th in a very strong field of Inter Girls.
The boys also did well with Bradley McLellan, running against students a year older than him, coming an incredible 3rd in the region, and Eddie Pearce who ran a very brave race to finish thirteenth in the Junior Boys Race
Newquay Tretherras are hosting the prestigious English Schools Competition Final for the second time in 5 years, so having representation in the event was hugely important to the school.
Mr. Craig Richards, Head of PE at Newquay Tretherras commented, “We are very pleased with the way our students have presented themselves in all rounds of the ESAA cup, and are delighted to have a team of very talented young athletes in the final. We wish them the very best for the final and will give them huge Tretherras support.”
