Recently, Year 10 GCSE dancers from Newquay Tretherras attended a ‘Day of Dance’ at Callington Community College.
The students experienced workshops by dance practitioners from the world of dance and improved their contemporary dance, lifting and floor-work skills resulting in them creating a number of pieces. In the evening, the students performed a group piece that they created in lessons over the last 6 weeks.
Everything that was learned the students will use to enhance their performance in GCSE dance lessons, giving them greater confidence and performance skills.
Mrs Alecock-Smith, Head of Dance at Tretherras said, “This was a fantastic opportunity for the year 10 GCSE students and they were really lucky that the dance department paid for them to attend. I hope to see what they have learned applied to their lessons here at Tretherras. Their evening performance was SUPERB and many teachers commented on it’s quality. We are performing the same piece at a showcase in Bodmin on the 25th November and are looking forward to sharing our piece in lower school assemblies over the coming weeks.
