Will Nicholls Elected New Mid Cornwall Youth MP

Newquay Tretherras student Will Nicholls has been elected Youth MP for Mid-Cornwall.

The Year 10 student won his post on the 4
th of March after standing in the elections and gaining massive support from his fellow students and Newquay community members. He won with over 900 votes and will now represent the views and interests of young people across the Mid-Cornwall region. 

An active member of the school and local community, Will’s first duty will be to attend a training day in Dorchester on the 18th of March, after which he will then have his first official meeting in Truro on the 5th of April, before visiting other places such as Liverpool and the Houses of Parliament in London throughout the year ahead.


Proud parents David and Sian Nicholls commented, ‘He was pretty much speechless when the results were announced on Saturday much to our amusement.’
Will added, ‘It came as a fantastic surprise! I’m really looking forward to getting to work and making a change to green spaces around Mid Cornwall.’
