Newquay Tretherras Rowing Team collected a fantastic set of results at the Cornwall School Games on Friday 4th December.
Over 600 pupils from 21 secondary schools across Cornwall arrived at Truro and Penair School’s to compete in county finals for the first medals and league table places as part of the 2016 Cornwall School Games. This was the first time that Winter Finals had been merged to create a Winter Games.
Ellie Mares came 1st in the Year 8 Girls classification winning Gold.
In the Year 9 Boys category, Gerran Hawkey came 3rd to win Bronze and Matti De Beer secured 5th.
A great team result for the Year 10 Girls with Zara Newman coming in 6th, Evie Hughes 10th, Ellie Marshall 12th, Anna Pengelly 13th and Kirsty Sanderson 15th.
Samantha Casey successfully secured 2nd place in the Year 11 Girls to win Silver and Matthew Greendale claimed 5th place in the Year 13 Boys category.
Mrs Kay Pender who supports the rowing team commented, “It was a fantastic day and an incredible set of results from the Tretherras team. They performed with great sportsmanship and were a credit to the school. Well done everyone.”
