Over 90 pupils from across the Newquay area along with their parents took part in a range of sports delivered by NT Sports staff and students. The morning gave young sporting athletes the opportunity to utilise the facilities at Newquay Tretherras, Academy Fitness gym and Newquay Sports Centre. There was a broad range of sports on offer including football, hockey, netball, indoor athletics, climbing, trampolining and a fitness activity designed by Academy Fitness.
Ms Carly Barber, who is the permanent Head of Year 7 was on hand to offer advice with transition along with Mr Tristan White the Director of Transition.
Senior Assistant Headteacher, Mr Richard Higginson presented certificates and prizes at the end of the day.
Mr Higginson commented, “We are very proud of the facilities and staff we have on offer at Newquay Tretherras to deliver a fantastic sports programme. We look forward to the new activity studio in our new school building and continuing the very strong tradition of sporting excellence at Newquay Tretherras.”
Mr Higginson added, “I would like to thank all the staff who give up their Saturday to deliver such fun and engaging activities. Year 5 & 6 pupils who come along to the following two Youth University mornings will be able to experience more of the same but focused on STEM subjects and Creative and Performing Arts.”
