#Climbing4all Challenge

Newquay Tretherras students and staff have successfully climbed higher than Mount Everest to raise money for mental health charity.

During Sport Relief week, the Newquay Tretherras Outdoor Learning Department took part in the British Mountaineering Council’s charity fundraiser #Climbing4all. With over a hundred people involved over the week the aim was to climb the equivalent of Mount Everest, a whopping 8840 metres. The students’ enthusiasm and commitment was beyond all expectations and the final figure was 10,272 metres climbed! Most of this was done at Newquay Sports Centre where the wall is 8 metres high which involved over a thousand ascents!

The aim of the challenge was to raise money for Climbing Out of Depression, a charity that through climbing, can provide some light in the dark for those who are grieving and who are suffering from depression or any other form of mental illness.

Fundraising is still coming in and if anyone is willing to support this great cause more information can be found here; bit.ly/NTClimb4All
