40th English Schools National Cup final held at Tretherras

The English Schools National Cup final was hosted by Newquay Tretherras on Saturday 4th of December 2021.

It is the third time in 12 years that Newquay Tretherras has hosted the event and welcomed top schools from around the country to take part in the National final.

Despite the tough weather conditions over 30 schools competed in the grand final with over 860 young athletes competing in six age graded categories.

Newquay Tretherras qualified for the final with their Inter Boys team of Joshua Eyre, Reen Bowden-Inoue, Ethan Lusty, Owen Pope, Douglas Hague and Oshi Baker.

In a top-level field the Tretherras boys demonstrated determination and strength to complete the race in less than favourable conditions. Executive Headteacher, Mrs Samantha Fairbairn, who attended the event, congratulated the boys on their amazing achievement.

Mrs Fairbairn commented to the team, ‘It has been amazing to watch you race amongst the top athletes in the country, you should be incredibly proud of what you have achieved today. Congratulations to you all.’
