It has been another exceptionally busy and successful term for everyone involved with NTSport. Participation at our clubs continues to be fantastic and we would like to say congratulations to every student who has been involved.
Various fixtures have taken place across a number of sports with notable successes seen as our Year 8 hockey team finished third in their County tournament and the Year 7 rugby sevens team finishing as runners up in theirs.
Students also travelled to the Millfield School Cross Country relays in Somerset, where competing against some of the top independent schools in the region, our Junior Girls Team finished second. The top rugby playing schools in the Country were also present at the National Schools Rugby Sevens competition in London where our Year 8 boys performed well against teams such as Dulwich College.
The Spring Term has also seen some very impressive individual honours with Katie Robinson continuing to represent England in football, Eddie Pearce being selected for the GB Surf Life Saving squad for a competition in Japan and Kieron Williams continuing to excel on a National level in the swimming pool.
Year 10 student, Ben Hammersley is impressing for the Exeter Chiefs Academy and seven of our Year 11 students were selected for the Cornwall U16 rugby squad; Ben Hunt, Eddie Pearce, Jack Higginson, Tom Dixon, Ethan Read, Cameron Leigh and Ethan Morgan.
It was also great to see 3 of our students as part of the Cornwall team competing at the English Schools Cross Country Championships in Leeds. Congratulations go to Bradley McClellan, Lauren Webster and Kerri Shanley.
The annual dance showcase, ‘Once Upon A Time’, also took place towards the end of term in what was a wonderful showcase of talent from Newquay Tretherras, local primary schools and community dance groups. It is always fantastic to see our students perform and the dance show is always one of the highlights of the year.
As we move into the summer term we look forward to lots of great weather and a continuation of the participation and achievements of our students.
