Newquay Tretherras Student Represent Great Britain’s Surf Life Saving Team in the Sanyo Cup in Japan

Year 11 student Eddie Pearce has been selected to represent Great Britain’s Surf Life Saving Team in the Sanyo Cup in Japan later this month. The event sees the top surf life saving nations from around the world battling it out for top honours and Eddie will be up against competitors from countries including host nation Japan, Hong Kong, the US, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand.

Eddie who is currently sitting his GCSE exams departs for Tokyo on the 20th June and is part of a 10 strong British team. He has been part of Newquay Surf Life Saving Club since the age of 8 and has been selected based on his outstanding results from last year and is very exited about the trip.

Eddie commented, “I feel both surprised and honoured to have this opportunity to be part of the British team and can not wait for the competition to begin. I have been training hard in preparation for the trip and would like to thank everyone for their support”.
