On Wednesday a large group of Newquay Tretherras Year 10 students attended the Skills South West careers event at Plymouth Pavilions.
This was an opportunity for the students to try out a variety of work-based skills from cooking pancakes and designing bags to building walls and wooden roofs. All sorts of employers, universities, colleges, apprenticeship & training providers were there, giving out plenty of advice and hopefully inspiring our students to think about their futures.
Mrs Henry, Careers Lead Teacher at Newquay Tretherras, commented ‘We love coming to these sorts of events as they are so important in giving students a taste of what jobs are out there. Everyone seems to have got something out of the day with one student already asking me if we can come back next year!’
