Key Stage 4 Awards Evening 2021

Newquay Tretherras celebrated the academic success of the Class of 2020 on the 24th of November 2021.

The evening was an opportunity for the 2020 Leavers to collect their GCSE certificates and celebrate their time at Newquay Tretherras with their families and peers.

The Senior Jazz and welcomed everyone into The Quay Hall before Mr Higginson, Deputy Headteacher, opened the evening. Head Boy and Head Girl, Coco Bond and Kezi Taylor, hosted the proceedings of the celebration.

The year group, who had interruptions to their academic learning due to the global pandemic, were recognised for their achievements and progress, as well as being recognised for their resilience through constantly changing times.

Attending students were welcomed onto the stage to collect their well-earned GCSE certificates. Ms Ollerenshaw, their Head of Year, spoke of the incredible character the year group demonstrated to overcome the interruptions to their studies. Ms Ollerenshaw commented, ‘You have been an incredible Year 11, you have faced some unprecedented times and worked your way through them. I wish you the best for your future and hope you keep in touch and tell us about all the wonderful things you will achieve.’

Ms Ollerenshaw presented the Greatest Contribution to the Life of the School to Maisy Combellack and The Steve Paice, awarded for character, determination and going beyond duty to the entire Class of 2021.

Newquay Tretherras Executive Headteacher, Mrs Fairbairn presented awards for outstanding academic success.

Outstanding Musician was won by Ben Pitchell and the Treble Clef Award by Zeb Murphy.

The Greatest Contribution to Performing Art went to Joe Millington.

The winners of the Female Sporting Award were Stella Pope and Kerrie Shanley and the Male Sporting Award was awarded to Joshua Golden-Clarke.

The Peter Cocks Award for Science & Technology went to Lily Kaye.

Most Academic Progress was won by in KS4 Henija Thapa and the Best KS4 Results was awarded to Matilda Rigolli.

Mrs Fairbairn concluded the evening by congratulating the students and encouraging them to continue their spirit for learning as they move on into their future.
