GCSE Results 2023

Newquay Tretherras is celebrating a set of KS4 results to be proud of once again. The class of 2023 were full of smiles and tears of joy as they opened their envelopes, supported by teachers who couldn’t be prouder of their achievements.

With nearly three quarters of all GCSE grades being a Grade 4 or higher, and nearly a quarter of students achieving Grade 7 or above in all GCSE grades (figures significantly above national averages) there is much to celebrate. Despite grades returning to pre-pandemic levels, NT continues to buck national trends a set of results even higher than pre-COVID figures.

Top performers include Daisy Mitchell; Kayley Patterson; Owen Pope; Jackson Lyne; Madeline Keill; and Zak Siggery who have a staggering 40 Grade 9s between them and Hannah Gallagher; Jack Groves; Elizabth Murton; and Daniel Rees who have made astonishing progress whilst being at NT. There are so many stories of success with students achieving placements on apprenticeships or highly regarded vocational courses, and more than ever doing A Levels here NT which, after last week’s record-breaking results, is one of the highest performing 6th forms in the country.

Executive Headteacher, Samantha Fairbairn commented that “Our fantastic students have much to celebrate, and all NT staff congratulate them on their hard-earned achievements. We are delighted that our students have achieved the grades they need to access the next step in their educational journey, whether it’s A levels, vocational courses or apprenticeships. We are thrilled with the individual successes of our students and we are proud of our dedicated and talented staff, who have worked tirelessly to achieve the best outcomes for the students in their care. Congratulations must also go to our fantastically supportive parents, who have worked extremely hard to support NT students through the many challenges of the summer exam season!”

Deputy Headteacher, Gemma Harries said, “Like every Year 11 across the country, this group of young people are the first to sit full KS4 examinations since 2019. They have been a wonderful year group to work with and have shown real resilience and determination over the course of their final years. We wish them all the luck with their next steps and know they have bright and exciting futures ahead of them”.
