This week our Music Department hosted The Christmas Concert and what a huge success it was! The day started with snow falling across the County, but despite this, students across all year groups were able to go ahead and perform to a packed out hall. The evening featured performances from our impressive ensemble groups including Junior and Senior Choir, Keep it Steel, Rock Bands, The Brass and Woodwind groups and The Jazz Band. Our GCSE and A Level classes brought festive cheer in their whole class performances of ‘Last Christmas’ and ‘Rockin’ around the Christmas Tree’, and a very pretty rendition of ‘Jingle Bell Rock’ on chime bars.
You could hear a pin drop during the solo and duo pieces whilst members of the audience were also delighted as the Staff and Sixth Form Choir graced the stage with their version of Silver Spring.
Head of Music, Bethany Wade, explains ‘I am so thoroughly proud of each and every student that took part in tonight’s show. Not just the huge array of musical talent on stage but all of the tech students that worked so hard all night to set up every act. This, alongside all of our incredibly generous staff volunteers, created a seamless and professional evening for everyone to enjoy.”
