Newquay Tretherras Dance Company Come 2nd in ‘Every Child Matters’ dance competition

For the second year running, Newquay Tretherras Dance Company participated in the ‘Every Child Matters’ dance competition.

The competition is in association with DanceAid which works in underprivileged countries to raise money through dance, and other activities, to fund humanitarian aid.

Newquay Tretherras were the only school to enter that was not made up of students from private or commercial dance schools. The team consisted of students from Year 7-11 and performed the piece ‘Sense of Security’ choreographed by ex-Tretherras dance student Lisa O’Dell.

They conducted themselves impeccably as ever, being great ambassadors for dance and Newquay Tretherras. The Tretherras team came second in the U16 beginner’s contemporary category.

A special mention should go to the following students who also entered the solo improvisation category: Leah Phillip’s (Year 7), Arwen Hemming, Aimee Jenkin (Year 10) and Sofie Alecock-Smith (Year 11).

Our congratulations go out to Arwen who made it into the semi-finals.
