Rewards and Recognition
Our ethos in the NT Sport department is to provide all students with extensive experiences to develop their physical and social abilities through the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum and recreational and competitive opportunities in sport and physical activity.
The NT Sport team is made up of 13 experienced and committed staff who are supported by a number of other individuals from within and outside of the school. Many are experts in their chosen sports, coaching at County and Regional level.
Physical Education is taught for two hours a week in Years 7, 8 & 9 with a focus on participation and engagement and the development of the knowledge, skills and understanding which underpin participation in different physical activities. In Years 10 & 11 students have one hour a week which build on previous learning in the subject and encourage lifelong participation. Students experience a variety of activities in both Key Stages which aim to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding and promote a healthy active lifestyle. Regular inter-house and inter-school competitions also take place with students representing their houses in a variety of activities which culminates in the whole school Sports Day. Students also have the opportunity to study GCSE PE, the Level 2 Cambridge National in Sport Science, A-Level PE and the Level 3 Cambridge Technical in Sport as they progress through the school, with many achieving notable success.
